You are a member of our P&C just by being a parent, carer, or community member, and we would love you to participate in any way you can.
What is a P&C?
A Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is a group of community-minded volunteers who help the school by:
- providing feedback on school policies and activities,
- fundraising for additional resources to enhance student learning, and
- helping parents be involved in their child’s education.
What does the Palmerston P&C do?
The Palmerston P&C runs a range of events, activities and services as well as fundraising to support the school. Our committee helps parents and citizens engage with the school. We hold two meetings each term, where you can hear from the school executive and community about current issues at our school.
Services and Programs
The P&C runs the second-hand uniform shop. You can buy good quality second hand uniforms on the My School Connect app (https://myschoolconnect.com.au/) or in person by appointment (email: pdpspandc@gmail.com). Donations are welcome! The uniform shop is run by volunteers and the proceeds all go to the P&C.
Location: The uniform shop is in the entrance to the school hall, opposite the canteen.
Lost property is kept in the cage at the back of the administrative building (after school care lost property is in the school hall). Any unlabelled items with the school logo are donated to the second-hand uniform shop on a fortnightly basis. Anything in the cage at the end of each term is donated to the uniform pool or charity.
We also manage the Scholastic Book Club. Brochures are sent home twice each term and 15% of every purchase goes to ‘Scholastic Rewards’, which we use to buy books for the school. You can order online here: https://mybookclubs.scholastic.com.au/parent.aspx
We run events to benefit the school community and to raise funds to benefit all Palmerston Primary kids. We also hold social events for parents and carers – keep an eye out for more details!
Meetings
We hold two meetings each term at 7:30pm on Monday in Week 3 and Thursday in Week 8 , with online and in person options. These meetings are a great opportunity to find out what is happening in the school and provide our community with an opportunity to have their say. Please come along and join in the discussions. We promise you won’t be ‘volunteered’ for something (unless you want to!)

Fundraising
Funds raised by the P&C have contributed to new books and readers in the library, sports equipment and the new PA System for the hall (coming in 2025).
Some ongoing fundraising methods include:
* Entertainment membership (previously the Entertainment Book) is an easy-to-use App packed with incredible savings for food, shopping, gift cards, activities and more! 20% of every membership purchased goes to the P&C to support our school. * The Athlete’s Foot Belconnen will donate $5 per pair of shoes to the P&C if you mention “Palmerston District Primary School” when you purchase.
This applies to shoes for kids and adults.
