Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

Social and Emotional Learning

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a priority at Palmerston District Primary School.  Each week students are engaged in lessons to reinforce behaviours and learn strategies to assist in emotional self-regulation and develop a growth mindset.  Lessons are timetabled to occur on ‘Mindset Monday’.  We follow the Bounce Back Program and have recently invested in the You Can Do It! Program.Social and Emotional Learning Keys

Both programs align with the Australian Curriculum which states “students develop personal and social capability as they learn to understand themselves and others, and manage their relationships, lives, work and learning more effectively. Personal and social capability involves students in a range of practices including recognising and regulating emotions, developing empathy for others and understanding relationships, establishing and building positive relationships, making responsible decisions, working effectively in teams, handling challenging situations constructively and developing leadership skills.”
