We’re excited to welcome Constable Kenny to our school to deliver two fantastic programs: "Stay Ok in the Community" and “Stay Ok Every Day”. These sessions will teach students vital skills for staying safe in a variety of situations, with the content tailored to different age groups.
The "Stay Ok in the Community" program will focus on foundational safety skills, such as staying close to their carers, what to do if they get lost, and remembering essential information like their name and phone number. This session provides practical tools to help them navigate the world around them confidently and safely.
The "Stay Ok Every Day" program, promotes thoughtful decision-making by using three key questions: Is it safe? Is it healthy? Is it kind? These questions help guide students in making positive choices that support their well-being and safety, reinforcing concepts from the health component of the Australian curriculum. This program encourages older students to think critically about their decisions and how they impact themselves and others, helping them navigate everyday situations with confidence.
Venue: Classroom Pods, Palmerston District Primary School
Students this semester in Year 4 are working on an Inquiry Unit about waterways, food chains and the water cycle. Students will walk from Palmerston District Primary School to The Valley Ponds Gungahlin near the Birralee Scout Hall. Students will walk on footpaths and cross the road using the underpass and pedestrian lights. Once at the Ponds they will be joined by the Water Watch team who will guide them in experiments and investigations around the pond. Students will have recess and lunch in the area and then walk back to school. Birralee Scout Hall will be open for toilets and for shelter if required.
