The Palmerston Primary Cross Country Carnival is part of our PE curriculum and therefore all students are asked to participate. We pride ourselves at Palmerston Primary as being inclusive of all students. With this thought in mind, we ask parents to encourage their children to walk the track, jog and walk the track, or attempt to achieve a personal goal by jogging the entire distance. This will ensure the maximum number of students participating and having fun on the day.
What a start to the year! Our busy little students are back in the classrooms having a lovely time.
Did you know that the P&C is run by volunteers? We serve as the link between the parent and caregiving community and the school.
School members are always welcome at the P&C meetings which are twice a term, Tuesday the 9th May (1:45pm -2:45pm) and Tuesday the 20th June (1:45pm - 2:45pm) this will be Located in pod 10.
We are keen to help re-energise the community around our school, fundraise for some cool things to benefit the students and really get engaged.
All of the official positions have been filled but we are keen for talented humans to help with specific events and tasks:
- Love BBQing? Come host a Bunnings BBQ one weekend!
- Awesome at graphic design? Help make posters for us!
- Love fetes? Join our fete team!
- Gardening is your gig? Come to the community clean up the school day!
- Love to bake? Help us with the teachers' end of year thank you morning tea in December.
- Bit of an artist? Lots of painting needs to be done around the school to update play spaces!
- Know random stuff? What about being part of the trivia team?
- Writing is your passion? Help us apply for grants by using your beautiful words!
We are planning on a schedule of events for the year and will be looking for people to sign up for what suits them best.

This initiative is brought together through Dolly's Dream. Dolly’s Dream was created by Kate and Tick Everett following the shattering loss of their 14-year-old daughter, Dolly, to suicide, after ongoing bullying. Kate and Tick’s goal is to prevent other families from walking this road. They want to change the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide, through education and direct support to young people and families.
By fundraising, we are taking part to help make Dolly’s own dream of a kinder and safer world for Australia’s kids and communities a reality.
This year Dolly's Dream is asking everyone to simply:
Donate to help end bullying.
Go blue: Dress or decorate in blue, Dolly's favourite colour.
Be kind: To everyone and everything you see, a little kindness goes a long way.
For this day we ask that students and the community come to school wearing blue (Dolly's favourite colour), bring a gold coin donation and be kind.
Musica Viva has been inspiring students throughout Australia for over 30 years. More than twenty groups from all genres of music tour to over 1000 schools each year. This year there will be a performance at Palmerston District Primary School by ‘Timmy and the Breakfast Band’ for Years K - 2.
‘Timmy is a perfectly normal school boy. But inside, he hears music in his head – all the time! How does this affect Timmy’s emotions, feelings and reactions in an everyday morning? Find out with musicians Rachel Johnston, Trent Arkleysmith and Gareth Bjaaland (Timmy) with a mandolin, musical saw, drums, banjo, cello and acrobatics. Students will discover how music can influence their own actions, thoughts, and emotions through this energetic and unusual pairing of music making and circus.’
Jump Rope for Heart is the Heart Foundation’s primary school skipping challenge that helps kids move more, have fun and raise funds for lifesaving research and programs.
This year we’ve got an audacious goal to see our student Heart Heroes at Palmerston Primary to log 40 hours of skipping throughout the program!
Register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents
Students will be skipping throughout the term in PE lessons/during lunch break and recess, during this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.
We will hold our school Jump Off Day on Friday 26th May, this will mark the end of
the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their
newly learned skills.
Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
