In the Readers Cup, teams of five students read a set of 5 books over 6 weeks and then compete with teams from other schools to answer quiz questions about the books. One student from each group will be an official substitute for the afternoon. They may be asked to compete in any round for their team should the need arise. Substitutes will be decided in Week 1 of Term 4 prior to the Cup.
Readers Cup competitions challenge students to read widely, work collaboratively in a team and continue developing a love of reading.
Palmerston will be entering3 teams of Year 5 students.
Timeline:

We are pleased to announce the return of Market Day. Market Day is a K-6 fundraising event which is hosted by the Year 6 students.
Stalls are planned, prepared and run by the Year 6 students. Information about these stalls will be advertised in the coming weeks.
Money raised goes back into the school’s learning and play spaces, and will contribute to the Year 6 Fun day expenses.
All students from K-5 are given the opportunity to purchase tickets for their child to use at the stalls.
Tickets cost $10 for 5 or $3 for one ticket.
Tickets for Market Day will be sold online from Week 2. You can also come in person to the Black top any morning between 8.45am and 9.15am and any afternoon between 2.45pm and 3.15pm during Week 3.
EFTPOS is available.
There are two markets; a K-2 Market (9.30-10:30am) and a 3-5 Market (11:30- 12:30pm), both on the same day. Year 6 students will be manning and running their stalls.
Students who will be participating in the Water Stalls will need to bring a change of clothes.
There will be a Sausage Sizzle on the day that students can use a ticket for, that we anticipate will be for their lunch.
Regards, The Year 6 Team
